Austin Shutter Painting

The job was hampered by some rainy days, as well as shutters that proved to be beyond saving. There was a small mix-up on paint colors. None of these were true problems, they were merely issues to be addressed. Mike and his foreman, Steve, were on top of every issue as it occurred. They were unfailingly polite and professional. Their crew did such a good job that we continue to wander outside just to admire their handiwork. All the work was done in as timely a manner as the wet weather permitted. Both Mike and Steve kept us apprised by phone and in person multiple times during each day of the job. Even better, they always would promptly answer their phones when I would call them. Their work crew did a great job on the house, and cleaned up everything. This type of work is very messy, yet by the completion of the project there was no trace of messiness left behind on our property. Most impressive is that Mike gave us a considerable discount to put up new shutters when we realized, after the fact, that repainting the old shutters was not going to make them look better. This local business does not disappoint! I recommend them wholeheartedly.

The painting was good - cleanliness was fairly good - a few spots on the floor here and there and one small spot on the rug. But I had them do a ton of work and they were efficient and got it done. Great job.

It was terrible. It was a very complicated thing, because the guy came out, he said that they don't do any job under $2500. I said I just wanted my front door painted and area above my garage painted. He said he would see what he could do to help me. He sent some guys over who I think were just from the neighborhood, I don't think they were part of his crew. The first thing they did was paint my front door, and totally ruined it. He bought me a new front door. The new door looks pretty good. I thought they had done a good job on the shutters until I took a closer look and that was poorly done as well. I just went and bought shutters and painted them myself. They didn't charge me more then the $199 of the big deal. He did replace the door, I didn't have to fight with him about it. The price was real good. He was professional. I would give the crew an F, they were horrible. I will not ever use them again. Update: There were some issues with the painting that was done originally and JP Construction willingly took care of the issue with the door. However, after closer examination of the shutters at a later date, I also found that paint job was unsatisfactory, but did not contact JP Construction because they had done me a favor by doing my job in the first place. When a negative review was seen by them that I had provided in response to a call from Angie's List, we worked together again to resolve the issue with the shutters, and everything has now been completed to my satisfaction and I am appreciative of that. It was very unfortunate that in attempting to do me a favor things went wrong, and I think both sides were dissatisfied with that. However, I am again happy to report that all issues have now been resolved.

They were top notch. I didn't actually compare the price to anybody else but we thought it was fair so we stopped right there. He was excellent, prompt, got done on time, and he did everything he said he was going to do. It was just him.

In the end, it was ok. On the first try, the house was painted white, when I had requested the paint match the existing color, which was off-white. I thought I was looking at a primer coat, until I was told the the job was done (they work fast). When I complained, I was told the house color as applied was correct. I managed to find a can of paint matched for a previous patch-work job by a window company, as well as a skipped area, that proved my assertion. The company agreed to re-paint the house the correct color, although they grumbled about it, saying I should have noticed before they finished painting!! The quality was not the best, several areas had to be repainted. They did not scrape old paint areas properly. This work was done in Feb, 2008. I did not want to report at this time because I was pretty upset about having to argue about the job in order to get the work done correctly. Having had time to think about it, the quality of the work is ok, not great. But I could have done a better job being more clear up front about what I wanted. I recommend requiring that you get to check the paint match before they start the job, instead of assuming that will be done. Be very clear about what you expect. The crew is super-fast, and very clean and neat. They left the job site neat every day, and I did not find any trash when they left. They did over spray the garage door onto the garage floor a little (not too noticeable)-so watch for that. I might call them again. I think the price was really good, the company is responsive and fast, and with proper communication, I think the work would be better next time.

Michael did and EXCELLENT job! We discussed things as he went along and found (or didn't find) areas that needed repairs. Some areas he expected to need to replace turned out to be unnecessary. We ended up replacing all of the siding on the the north side of the house, but I wasn't surprised as we've had problems there in the past. I finally feel confident that that side of the house is finally "tight". The house looks grand and I would DEFINITELY recommend him.

Excellent, the crew (Johnathon, Guillermo , and Jose Luis) was professional, timely and very respectful of outdoor furnishings. They took time to prep and mask and they did it well. They cleaned up after themselves and made certain we were satisfied before leaving the job. Additionally Mike who estimated the job was clear and offered options. Carl who scheduled the job worked around our schedule. Jordan who answers the phone and takes care of payments etc was always responsive . Can't ask for more than that .
