Tex Painting LLC

Tex Painting was awesome to work with! My wife and I have been trying to figure out what to do with our kitchen cabinets for the last year and a half since we have moved into our home. We finally decided that we wanted a nice, clean look and chose to paint our cabinets white. Based on reviews on Angie's List I contacted Tex Painting and got a response the same evening with information about what they would do and wanting to schedule a free estimate. Barry came out to our home and gave us an estimate on the work done and walked us through the process and how long he anticipated the work to take (3 days total with a crew of 3/4 guys. He was very patient with our questions and was knowledgeable with how paint would hold up on our types of cabinets. After speaking with Barry we were very excited and the quote was much less than we were anticipating. They were able to get us on the schedule the next week to start the work of painting our cabinets. The crew was prompt and spent most of the first day prepping the area. These guys do not mess around when it comes to prepping. They covered EVERYTHING. Our kitchen was encased with plastic, the counters, appliances, floors, etc. were all covered with heavy paper/plastic to ensure no paint residue got on anything other than the cabinets. Another very cool thing was I was concerned about the type of paint to use on the cabinets. I did a lot of research because I am anal and I was torn about which paint type to use. Barry gave me a contact to talk about my research and give me a suggestion of his company?s product. I was super impressed that Barry took the time to listen to my crazy rants and point me in a direction to give me peace of mind in my decision on picking the type of paint I wanted to use. Once everything was prepped (rest of day 1 and day 2) the crew sanded the cabinets, primed them, caulked the seams, and applied the first coat of paint (sprayed on). The crew was on time and worked from about 9 to well after 6. That evening when I came home from work I was eager to take a look at the cabinets and I was a little concerned as there were drips and dark spots on the cabinets where it looked like the paint absorbed into the wood and I didn't like the way it looked. Scott Miller (who is the owner) was also the project manager for my job. I expressed my concerns to him and he called me about 30 seconds later letting me know that this was just the first coat and that they needed to let the paint dry a little and settle on the wood before they could fix any of that the next day. I felt much better after talking with Scott and knew the guys would take care of it the next day. Day 3 the crew arrived again on time at 9am and began working. They actually repainted ALL the cabinets with a second coat of paint and corrected all the drips and spent another full day working. Once they were finished the crew lead walked me through the kitchen and let me inspect all the cabinets. I was extremely impressed with the finished product. The dark spots on the cabinets were gone, the drips were non-existent and the crew cleaned up all the prep materials. Eugene explained that we needed to keep the cabinet doors open for the next 24 hours to ensure the paint was dry and before we started putting everything back in our cabinets. It has been a couple of weeks since the work has been done and my wife and I could not be happier with the way the cabinets turned out. The paint job was excellent and I will definitely be contacting Tex Painting again when I need some more paint work done on our home. If you are looking for a company who makes sure the customer is happy, just stop looking and give these guys a call!

Crosstown Painting

I interviewed many painters before I settled on Colton with Crosstown Painting and I am so thankful I found him! Colton and his crew took exceptional care in painting our kitchen cabinets inside and out. This was a huge undertaking as we wanted the cabinets spray-painted using the Benjamin Moore cabinet coat. Colton completely enclosed our kitchen in plastic from floor to ceiling and covered all appliances and the floor to protect from overspray. He did the same in the garage where the drawers were taken to be painted. We specifically asked him to leave the cabinet doors on (as they were originally painted that way and the hinges were there okay to be sprayed) and he was more than happy to comply with our request. He was very thorough and paid close attention to all the little details. Afterwards, he touched up some other areas on my walls and then did a great job of cleaning up. Locating a painter is hard enough, but finding someone who is completely trustworthy, super friendly, and does exceptional quality work without rushing through it to get to the next job is a challenge. I hit the jackpot with Colton. As a bonus, he also power washed our driveway and front porch and I never imagined they could get as white as Colton got them to look. It's this quality and outstanding customer service that allows me to highly recommend them for your painting needs.

I'm now of two minds regarding working with Sam. Following are my original, glowing review, and a less-impressive update Sam is our go-to guy for painting. He helped pick out the color, worked with the paint store to get the color right, and did a quality job in the time he promised. Later update. Needed a paint job done. Called Sam. He was able to bid the job over the phone. On three separate occasions, we scheduled him to come out and he did not show. Got another group to do the work.

We remodeled the kitchen and three other rooms in our house. We had another painter we had used before do the other rooms first. While the work was OK, we were not confident he had the skills to do the kitchen. Neilson was recommended by our decorator. We had him remove the popcorn from the ceiling, remove a light box, make extensive wall repairs due to a cabinet removal, paint the cabinets (inside and out), and repaint the walls and ceiling. He worked well with other contractors, coordinating their work. While he cost a little more, his work was outstanding! It's been a year since this was done, and it still looks like new (indicating he used good material and painting techniques). We were so pleased, we also had him return and redecorate a half bath.

Very, very well. David is all of those things listed above: professional, reasonably priced, punctual, responsive, and provided best quality of finished product. We were so impressed that we have contracted him for further work (painting cabinet doors--each one a different color), which he will begin tomorrow. High marks. Excellent work! Update: That second project has been completed, including some last-minute changes we threw at him, which he took in stride. Beautiful work, well done. Thanks, David.

Recent Review: I needed my medium-sized, kitchen textured and painted. I had three companies with high Angie's List rankings bid on the job. 21st Century was the mid-range bid. They provided the most comprehensive documented bid of the three. The fact that the bid listed everything the work team would do in detail made me feel confident in knowing what I was getting for my money. I also thought that if the company put this much work into their bids, perhaps I would see these same characteristics (e.g. detail-orientated and thoroughness) in their work. I did. The job took two days. The work crew was made up of the same two men both days. (I unfortunately did not write down their names and have forgotten them.) The work crew showed up on time both days. They were respectful of me and my home. They worked quietly and quickly (no loud music or banter) and were very professional. They did an excellent job of tapping the cabinets and counter tops, not a drop of texture or paint got on my floor tiles, and their drywall patchwork was excellent. As for the painting, they used rollers and brushes, and it turned out beautiful. After painting, they closely inspected all the walls (I assisted) to make sure the paint had gotten into all the nooks and crannies created by the texture. When we found spots needing a touch up, they hand painted the area to make sure it blended perfectly. They went above and beyond to make sure I was pleased with the outcome. Not once did I feel resistance or disrespect when I pointed out a spot, smudge or section I wanted touched up. Recommendations for improvement: The work crew did not do as good of a job cleaning up the wallpaper fragments left on top of my upper cabinets as I expected. Additionally, they used my garden hose outside to wash off their equipment and tools (e.g. air compressor, brushes and pans). However, where they washed their stuff left paint run-off in the middle of my yard. The paint washed away after a few weeks, but I would have preferred them to wash things off by the service fence. They also forgot to wash off the hose after using it and I had paint (splatter and hand prints) on my hose for a few weeks until it wore off. These three things are minor and would not prevent me from using or recommending 21st Century in the future.

Recent Review: What a great experience I had with Donna and Bob Twomey and their crew at ProTect Painters! Professionalism, thoroughness and attention to detail, friendliness, listening to my needs and concerns, and the list goes on. And the beautiful painting job they performed on my home met my highest expectations. My first meeting was with Bob, who impressed me with his breadth of knowledge and suggestions of items I hadn't even considered. He provided me with a very detailed proposal and did not push me to sign a contract on the spot. Once the job commenced, Donna and her crew arrived promptly each day at a time that Donna made sure was convenient for me. She communicated with me in detail the entire time, and ensured all was to my satisfaction as the job was underway. Her crew thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day, always with a smile. This was my first venture into a home improvement project like this; Donna and Bob were so helpful and reassuring, explaining the process and answering my many questions. I highly recommend the the Twomeys and ProTect Paint, and plan to let family and friends know of my very positive experience.

Recent Review: I had my cabinets semi-refaced (new doors and drawer fronts). Since I knew I wanted white I had a cabinet maker use paint grade materials for the doors and drawer fronts. I had no idea how this paint job would be accomplished but Jerry and his crew removed all the doors, drawers and hardware and set up a spray area in my garage. They completely covered everything on my garage walls with plastic and placed drop cloths throughout. For the fixed cabinetry in the kitchen they covered the floors with taped down paper, covered my stove and dishwasher with the same and taped down cardboard to protect my granite. My kitchen is semi open by a breakfast bar into the family room so they had to make a "wall" of plastic to enclose the kitchen for spraying. Thank goodness for this because as strong as the fumes were in the rest of the house while the paint was fresh, it was really pungent inside this bubble. That is the only regret I had about this paint job, that I didn't do it earlier or later in the year with cooler weather so we could air out more comfortably. Jerry explained that parts of the existing cabinetry base might "show" a bit of the wood grain through the white paint. I told him I could deal with that, my cabinets had previously been such an ugly orangy-honey stain color that a touch of grain under certain light conditions was no big deal, but his crew did such a good job of priming that I hardly notice any wood grain. My kitchen turned out beautiful, I was nervous about putting things back into my cabinets right away and probably waited longer than necessary but it was fun, like moving into a new house!

Recent Review: Overall a very positive experience! Scheduling was a bit imprecise, but this was due to the fact that Ultra is a small business that does not use subcontractors - for me, that easily outweighs the minor inconvenience of not knowing *exactly* when the work would begin. They did a great job and never left a mess even though the work took several days.

When I called to check on a scheduled time, they immediately got back to me and scheduled the job for a couple of days later. Always on time and I was very pleased with the painting done. They even did a little extra painting as well. Cleaned the area up before they left. Very happy with the work done.

Recent Review: Konrad came to give a bid the day after I called. He was very professional and personable and I was very impressed with the way he presented information about his company. I particularly liked the fact that this is a small company of employee owners. Konrad was able to give me a verbal bid that day and followed it with an email bid with a list of 18 tasks they would be performing. The work was completed within the week. I could not have been more pleased with this company. The crew, led by Ramiro Martinez, gave us a very professional job. Texture matched the texture in adjoining rooms and the new paint and caulking looks perfect. Their prep work and cleanup was so thorough I had NO cleanup to do after they left. Konrad was a big help with choosing colors. He brought over a box containing a complete set of Kelly Moore paint chips that we were able to keep for the weekend and look at colors in different light conditions. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again for other projects.
