Reviews in Austin to Install Water Fountain

Eclipse Landscape & Construction
5.0
Jay Sexton is one of the most pleasant people you will ever work with. He respectful, considerate, and thoughtful about his advice. I asked Jay to build a two-level patio that I had designed for a particular spot in the backyard, with power and water supply to an Italianate fountain that I had previously purchased. Jay made a number of very important suggestions for the size, design, materials, and layout of the patio, resulting in a much better outcome. His crew was very efficient. The stonemasons were artists who worked with an expensive stone to create a delightful design with random shapes that, because of the thickness of the stone, had to be created by sawing individual pieces and then chiseling the edges to give the sort of aged, rough lines that we were looking for. Jay was meticulous in following up and went well beyond what was expected in installing the fountain, which proved to be more work that we originally thought it would be. This was such a good experience that we decided to expand the scope of our landscaping project and have hired Eclipse to do the design and installation. Once again, it proving to be a pleasure to work with Eclipse.

Water Features of Texas LLC

Mark and Mike Malesky did a fabulous job creating a water feature that is stunning, gorgeous, lovely, and spectacular. These are words visitors use to describe the water feature when they see it. Water Features of Texas faced many challenges in building the feature, including working around a pre-existing 15 year-old water feature that was in the way, surprises with buried metal from the previous feature, and a water leak that was difficult to detect. I was most impressed that in every instance, Water Features of Texas got the job done and got it done well. No problem was too big to stop them and they didn't give up until everything was solved and working perfectly! Best of all, the Malesky's were always extremely gracious and professional throughout the whole project. In the end, not only did we enjoy working with the Malesky's, we ended up with a water feature that has captivated everyone who has come to visit, it is so beautiful.

Lori is a gem. She is truly the best professional I have ever worked with for my home. She is trustworthy, honest, knowledgable, sincere, hardworking, and reliable. I have absolutely no negative or even neutral things to see about our experience. We hired her to give our yard a complete makeover and she executed every single thing we wanted without exception. When she encountered obstacles, she solved them quickly without drama. She was here day in and day out working and overseeing things. She was always available for questions. I could not recommend her more emphatically.

Capital Lawn came recommended to us from our new neighbors. We were pleased with what they created next door and heard great things on their working with her. Laurie and her crew were wonderful. When we first met with Laurie to discuss ideas, we knew we were coming to the table with out-of-the-ordinary expectations. Laurie listened and came back in short order with ideas and plans that far exceeded our desires. She is creative, responsive to ideas and requests and really a joy to work with. Her crew went way above and beyond with extra requests and tasks and never expressed any exasperation at us. The were always here when they said they would be; they were quick in their tasks and experts in details. Due to a hard frost that hit when most of the plants were still young, Laurie returned in the spring and replaced and spruced up what was amiss. Her ideas put the landscaping and lighting in our yard way beyond what we had planned or expected. The "B" for price is due to her pricing seemed to be a bit high, but when all is said and done worth every penny! She is a true pleasure to do business with. We highly recommend her, and have to our family members!

Hill Country Water Gardens & Nursery

I love waterfalls and have wanted to have one in my back yard for many years. I attended a free workshop at Hill Country Water Gardens on how to build a disappearing stream, but decided my dreams were bigger than my do-it-yourself ability level, and obtained a consultation and estimate from HCWG. They provided an overhead view of the layout of the proposed waterfall and stream, but I was uneasy about the lack of specificity of what the final outcome would look like. I met with Steve and a waterfall designer at their "store," which has extensive grounds with multiple operating waterfalls and streams. We worked out a revised design to better meet my preferences, but an overhead view was the best that could be done, leaving some ambiguity as to how it would look from the front. Work was scheduled to commence about 2 weeks later. In the meantime, I discovered that the area where I planned to have it built, along a fence, has a 5' easement, so the available space in which to build got tight. A crew arrived on schedule, but the creative director assigned to the project did not appear to be aware of the previous discussions. He and his crew built a beautiful, natural-appearing stream, but after living with it for a few hours, I realized the waterfall element was much smaller than the "dream" waterfall I had envisioned. I phoned Steve, who I understand is the owner of the company, to convey my disappointment. Within a day or two, he was at my house with a project manager and another crew, took apart the finished waterfall, and completely rebuilt the waterfall and upper portion of the stream. The end result is a spectacular series of waterfalls in a relatively small space. The sight and sound are better than I had imagined they could be. There was no extra charge for the additional labor, and some additional materials. On top of that, I've discovered that it's possible to move the rocks around, and the appearance of the waterfalls can be changed, so it's become a creative plaything as well.

The first pedestal fountain we had to return due to a defect. They exchanged easily. HCWG has weekend classes to help instruct folks to do their own installations. They also will answer your questions. Our fountains ran without problem until we shut them down for the winter. We also bought some plants for around the large fountain which thrived and survived the winter.

Spicewood, TX

Recent Review: I had three Angie's list landscaping companies come out and give estimates, and Spicewood was the first to respond. Josh came out and met with us to discuss what we were looking to do, and together we worked up a plan for a complete transformation of our front and back yards. He made several visits to discuss and sketch up ideas together. In the end, Spicewood's estimate was the best, and I had a really good feeling about working with Josh. Once work commenced, Josh was always available and engaged. If I had any questions or issues, he was right on it. One piece of the work we had added with the swap of the pergola for the deck was adding new doors and windows to provide access from two rooms. When we had issues with the carpenter they brought in and I wanted him removed from the job, they were very reasonable in first wanting to hear and understand the issues, and were supportive of my decision. What could have been a trigger point for argument and disagreement, we worked out in a very professional and sensible way even though it required some adjustments to our scope of work. We had a couple of issues with the irrigation system, and their partner (Tropical Irrigation) was very responsive. It's a pleasure to do business with someone that puts the customer's satisfaction as such a high priority, and chooses to work with partners that will maintain that same level of satisfaction.

Recent Review: First, let me say that I had never met or known David Ulmer until a month prior to considering these projects. I promptly hired him to get my 30 ft. - 40 ft. trees professionally trimmed. The job was extremely and neatly done. I have always been a 'Do it myself' gardener. Time and injury have put some limitations on what I can accomplish on my own and we all know that 'a woman has to know her limitations.' I decided to request a consultation appointment with David Ulmer for some more work on my yard. David Ulmer is an inspired visionary - honest - practical. He is a coordinator of talent - a team motivator. He is willing to work within a budget yet adaptable to changes. He handles the unexpected with calm, problem-solving determination. The project started as a "clean up and replacement" job. Remove the old wood deck and wood compost bins. I didn't know how I wanted the finished yard to look or what specific materials I wanted to use. I only knew how I wanted the yard to feel. I had some ideas like an irrigation system, a water feature, fountain or urn; a pergola for shade but open to the trees, stars and birds; maybe a fire pit. I wondered if I could afford a pool and I knew I had to keep the shed. David was able to bring in skilled artisans to develop more than one concept to choose from. Once I decided on the concept, David and the team cleared out the old and began to place the new. I was guilty of making some changes during the process that impacted the timeline. I decided to remove the damaged/cracking and undersized concrete patio. That task turned out to be much bigger than any of us expected. However, the ultimate result with the new patio was well worth it. I can't say I have a favorite feature because they all inter-relate in such a way that they draw you in and out and around the yard from the front to the back and out the other side to the front again. I feel I now have a yard and gardens that I can work in! A lush grassy area that is both pet and kid friendly. I have multiple seating areas to enjoy the fountain or the fire or friends around the table, in the sun or the shade. I can even sit out front on my large entry to greet neighbors or just enjoy my garden.
