Reviews in Austin to Install Batt Insulation

In November of 2009 EMS installed batt insulation under my home . On Friday January 20th I went under my house because I felt like insulation was not working properly. I discovered that whole sections of the work done by EMS were lying on the ground or had come off of ceiling. Upon further inspections, I realized the mesh that should be holding the insulation to the ceiling was not installed properly or was missing in sections. I paid 1000.00 dollars for batt insulation that is secured with mesh. Only a very small portion was secured by mesh. I have tried to contact the company several times. Three times I was told somebody would come and look at the work. Three time nobody came. I have left three messages and sent one email and I have heard nothing back

I had them out 14 months ago to address a stopped drain pipe. I was told my 20+ year old AC system should really be replaced before it went out. I bought a new system and the install went fine. Owner upsold me on an air purification system. I have horrible allergies so I went for it. That system blew out my AC fuse twice. It's been unplugged for months with the promise they were ordering a new one. I needed new air returns installed. They asked to wait for it to cool off. Of course that suddenly cost more and they didn't have the parts, etc. My electric bill actually went up with the new unit (explain that one) so I had them blow insulation in the attic. First major heat wave and all of the sudden I have water pouring down in my master closet. They didn't have the drain properly aligned with the pump (or it got bumped During the insulation) so it dropped water down the side (see Pic) for days before it finally crashed through the ceiling to over $700 worth of damage (see pic). I asked to speak to the owner and he's never called me back. Two days ago, my system suddenly stopped cooling.. in Texas... in July. The next morning they came out and turned it off so that it could thaw. They came back, charged it and told me they had to order a part but it should be OK until then. The next day it got to 92° in my house. They came that day (to their credit) and installed a new component. While doing that they scraped my wood floor... badly... and didn't tell me. I discovered it after they left. They are very nice (even if I had to point blank tell one of them to put a mask on in my house during a pandemic). And they are very responsive. But I am out to $13,000 and I have never had less confidence in my air-conditioning. And in them. Oh and my $1000 air purifier is still unplugged in the attic. "They forgot" they were suppose to order a replacement. Now they can't get one because of the pandemic. ***UPDATE***: The Owner has been in contact and has gone above and beyond trying to make it right. They sealed my duct work and replaced my internal unit and purifier at their own cost in an effort to try to improve the situation

Fran and his crew are extremely professional. They began the actual work on our house today although, the process began on February 4. Fran worked patiently to determine the correct product for our 1940's home. He came to the house and spoke with us and the insurance adjuster. He understood the insurance process and helped us to work through the process. As of today we have all the old asbestos siding removed. Tomorrow they will begin to prepare the house for our hardi plank. The crew has kept the yard and work area very neat. We are very excited and looking forward to the finished project. As of today their rating would be A+++. Update: We are halfway finished with our project. The crew is phenomenal. They clean up every night. Customer service is spectacular. Update #2: The house looks amazing! Fran, Mario and his crew did a great job with the siding and especially the crown molding. My house looks as it should, a 1940's craftsman, not like a house that has had new siding installed. We are finished with the project except for two windows and the final punch list. The windows were an unforeseen issue that was discovered when the asbestos siding was removed. Fran stopped by today to check on the site as Mario and crew finished yesterday. He taped an area that is waiting for one of the new windows that was a concern to me. Fran, Mario and the crew have been a joy to work with. Very professional, prompt, and friendly. This was a stressful project and I appreciated their willingness to go the extra mile. I would recommend this company without reservation and plan to hire them again for another project. A++

The company offered two ways to fix a problem with damaged and incorrectly installed insulation. We took had them repair and replace rather than replace with foam. A crew of 4 finished the project in half a day, and cleaned and hauled off the trash.

They came and gave an estimate then scheduled the work. They showed up on time, were thorough, and returned promptly to fix the one issue I had with water heater closet. They submitted the rebate paperwork and were flexible in scheduling the city inspection to certify for rebate. It passed easily. Everyone is thorough and professional. There was one place on the pull-down attic stairs they did not come back to install insulation board as requested (not available in the right size when they did the initial installation), but I neglected to remind them of this and then forgot about it

John came out and did the estimate promptly following our request. He and Sommer were very responsive via email and we hired Capital to do the work as described. It was a little frustrating with the scheduling as they do not give a date for the work when you sign a contract and tell you they will call you 3 days prior to starting the work. However, this is the business model that works for them and they did a great job on our siding replacement. We wanted to be there when the workers pulled off the old siding to see what was beneath and John worked with us on this request. Also, when John's crew was installing the siding on our house, we also had two other contractors with other companies doing work at the same time over a 3 day period. Someone had removed a section of fencing and hadn't put it back in place. None of the contractors would take responsibility for removing the fence and not repairing it including Capital Construction, but John had it fixed for us anyway and this pleased me very much. A company that is willing to go a little above and beyond stands out among the rest and I wouldn't hesitate in hiring Capital Construction Services in the future

Wow! In a week our house went from UGLY to looking like a brand new house. These guys are good: they show up when they say they will and get the job done right...and for the best price. They will do whatever you ask them to. We recommend them to everyone considering new siding. We're happy, satisfied customers

Shannon inspected the house and then sat down with us and explained very thoroughly what needed to be done and how he was going to do it. He described in detail the cost, the City of Austin requirements and rebates, and how long the job would take. He and his helper showed up on the appointed date (fortunately, we did this in April when it was much cooler, so they could work in the attic all day) with all the necessary equipment and supplies. They diagrammed the routes of the AC ducts, determined what changes needed to be made, and removed the old ducts. Fortunately (for them and us), we have two attic stairways and another access door, which made the work go faster and easier. After they installed the new AC ducts and sealed a few places on the AC units themselves, they adjusted the dampers on the ducts for each and every room--Shannon at a duct with an air-flow testing device, communicating by walkie-talkie with his helper in the attic, who adjusted the damper. Then the dampers were sealed in place and shrouds were placed around all the duct outlets, in preparation for the installation of the insulation. Five outside doors were weather-stripped. Then the insulation was blown in. Also, batt insulation was used to create "dams" around attic stairway openings and water-heater vents, to prevent the blown-in insulation from "drifting" down into those areas. When the insulation installation was completed, they thoroughly cleaned up after themselves, which didn't require a lot of time, because they had been so careful throughout the whole operation. They spent a total of about three days on the project. A week or so later, Shannon and an inspector from the City went over the entire house. The work was approved, and we were told that the rebate would arrive within ten days. The final result--Shannon explained everything to us as he went along, the work was done quickly and correctly, and the cost was most reasonable, not even considering the substantial rebates; the balanced air-flow makes every room in the house comfortable, and our utility bills will no doubt show the results of the improved AC efficiency and the added insulation. I am recommending Cen-Tex Thermal far and wide. They are the best

H&H Design and Construction

The finished work is excellent. The new siding matches the existing siding to the point where you have to know what is new and what is existing to be able to tell. The kitchen floor repair matches perfectly. The linen cabinet comes very close to matching the existing units. Once work commenced it moved along very rapidly. If we have grumbles it was during the breaks between the different projects. The siding was done in a week. Kitchen floor in a morning. The bathroom closet took a bit longer to measure, create and then install. But between each of these was weeks of little or no communication. To be fair, John was going through some serious family health issues and his former business partnership was dissolving, so my sense is this was an unusual set of circumstances. We will happily use H&H again and recommend him to our friends

Fantastic. Professional, courteous, concerned and thorough. At the end of every day they ensured their work area was clean. In addition to quality work, that specific ethic really stood out for me. Whatever positive things I put here will be an understatement. I will hire Old School Builders again.

Things went great. We recently bought a mid-century house and decided that we should add extra insulation before summer came in all its hellish glory and cooked us to a crisp. After reading tons of reviews and having a few people out to give us on-site estimates, we called Green Collar. Bill came out to give us the initial estimate. He walked us through the individual costs of everything, how the Austin Energy rebate process went, and explained exactly what they would be doing. He was knowledgeable about things and didn't come off like he was trying to upsell every possible option. We scheduled the work to be done a couple of weeks out. They did a pre-inspection as part of the rebate process. I should mention that they handled all of the rebate process, unlike some of their competitors, which weighed heavily in their favor. If you like to take on a lot of bureaucratic work, you can find cheaper companies to install insulation. The guys that installed the insulation were great. They worked tirelessly to knock the work out. I can't remember their names right now because my brain is borderline useless, but they were both top-notch. I'd definitely recommend these guys. NOTE: The amount I spent ($700) is after receiving my rebates. The initial amount was roughly double that. For perspective, I have a 770 square foot house

Custom Insulators

Everything about the job--from estimate to clean-up--was great. The job was done carefully, expertly and on time. There were no unpleasant surprises. Custom Insulators got the job when the representative from the competing (and also well regarded) local company responded to one of my questions during the estimation visit, "Well, I'll need to check with the boss about that." At Custom Insulators, it was the boss, Ted Dement, who came to do the estimate. Ted was a pleasure to work with. He personally was there for the actual job. In fact, it was he at the end of the blower hose in the attic, directing the distribution of insulating material. I has relieved to see that Ted and both of his assistants wore respirators whenever the insulation blower was on. We already can tell a difference, in terms of reduced run-time for our A/C unit, and the absence of hot-air surge when A/C blower first starts at the beginning of the on-cycle. Looking forward to reduced utility bills, especially during our hot Texas summer
Stellrr is, without a doubt, one of the best contractors I have used in Austin... Our home was built in 1980, and the has all the wiring and rewiring that can be expected in 30+ years... Last year, we decided to remove the old insulation from the attic as a way to get a handle on a pest issue that we had... but because the attic is so old, and so much 'stuff' is laying around, we didn't want to use the more common blown insulation as replacement; after some research, we came across Stellrr, and the abundance of information they provided enabled us to make a more educated decision that we would otherwise have made... Wayne Mansur was willing to spend a long time over the phone answering all of my questions, and when he came to our home, he was very meticulous in taking all relevant measures... The actual job took a little over two days to complete, and once it was finished, we were able to feel the effects of superior insulation from day one! I should say here that, and because we had removed the old insulation in the Fall of last year, the early days of Summer, when he had no insulation at all, were pretty toasty inside the house - the AC unit would not stop working between morning and evening, and could not catch up with the modest setting we had - 79F... Our new insulation from Stellrr has made the house much, much more comfortable, and the difference in the electric bill was evident from day one (my recollection was a drop on the electric bill of ~$70.00 compared to the previous month)... I have also been in the attic on Summer days, and when I would have previously been roasted, I was able to do maintenance work without issue, and with comfort... Without hesitation, I would recommend Stellrr to any one considering an insulation job..
Contacted energy attic usa for information on their products and received an abundance of help from two very kind and friendly people- Kent and Amy. They are a husband and wife team that take great pride in what they do, the american made products that they use, and in customer satisfaction. I had many questions that related to my existing air conditioning unit and ductwork and Kent was more than happy to answer ALL of my questions! I had originally planned to be home on the day of the scheduled install, but an emergency came up with one of their employees and so they had to reschedule the work at my house. I was not happy because I wanted to be at home when the work took place and could not take off from work. Kent understood and gave me his word that he would stay at my house and oversee the work until everything was completed. Overall, I was very happy that I used this company and would recommend them to anyone else. They displayed quality work and to my delight- left all the areas where they had worked clean! Cynthi

We had two rooms remodeled, and had many contractors come out, I had to replace Sheetrock everything! The insulation companies I had come out were not on time and gave me a bid that was much higher than that of this company. Service Solutions completed the job on schedule, and I will use again in the future

The whole team exudes professionalism and good-will. Marc was very transparent with their very competitive pricing, and always looked to provide the most relevant information to me as the home owner, rather than up-selling me like countless others have done. The techs were extremely quick and thorough, always kept me updated on the decisions they made, and went out of their way to make sure everything was above and beyond. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the service and will go to Affordable Insulation for any other future endeavors

Smaller company, but they answered the phone and were professional. Raven got us a service man to come out and give a free quote to make sure we could get exactly what we wanted. The service man was friendly and after the job was completed we were shown pictures of the work and also looked ourselves, overall we are glad we choose the smaller company, I feel like they paid closer attention to detail and what we wanted versus telling us which decisions to make because they gave options.
