Reviews in Austin to Install Bamboo Flooring

I had my floors installed in July of 2013. I was originally told it would take three days to complete the project. The team from JJ Flooring managed to get the job done in one. They were very friendly and efficient, listening to my instructions involving shuffling furniture around to get what they needed to done. In November of 2013 I started to notice some gaps forming in the floors. When I reported this to JJ Flooring they sent someone out to take a look, and were very prompt in sending a team back out to complete the repairs.

I found Bob and Andrea on Angie's List. They and their crew were professional and provided excellent workmanship on time, at a fair price.

Steve and his team were amazing! We had extensive water damage from a slow leak. Steve and team removed the old flooring and glue and installed a new bamboo flooring. We bought the bamboo (strand woven kind) and all rounds/moldings ourselves, so all he provided was his expert labor. They got the whole house down in 3.5 days, so we didn't have to stay in a hotel too long. The quality of work is quite impeccable. It looks amazing. Very little wastage and they cleaned up really well. And they are very friendly and nice to just hang out with. And if all this didn't make me a huge fan of Daryl's already, here's something that will totally convince you to use them: 1 month later, we find yet another leak in a different part of the house. Luckily we found it quickly and got it fixed. I scheduled Steve to come in and fix that area - about 40 sq ft. They showed up early on the scheduled day and finished the work quite promptly. And then, he didn't charge me! Really! Apparently, it was a combination of me tipping them nicely and because it was so close to their last visit. Even though this wasn't due to workmanship issues on their end (it was a water leak) - they still treated it like a warranty thing. Anyway, Dary's Hardwood (Steve and team) are good Austin people. I'd highly recommend them.

Jonathon was recommended by a co-worker who had been very happy with their work. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. They were very willing to work within my tight time frame & I appreciated that, but it didn't work out so well. They were scheduled to start the job on 7/5 & it was supposed to be a 2 day job, but stretched out to 7 days in the end. The project manager came by that morning & said the guys would be there in 20 minutes. They ended up being 5 hours late because another project manager told them to go to a different job. I had taken off from work to be at home while they did the work. The next day, the guy arrived 45 minutes later than he said he would be there and was without his helper. He was able to lay a small section of the floor. He wanted to come back the following day which was a Sunday. I was fine with that, but again, he was an hour later than he said he would be. All they got done was leveling the other half of the slab because they only got 1 bucket of glue instead of two. By Monday, I needed to go back to work, so had no choice but to leave them to work in my house alone. They finished laying the floors & said they'd re-attach the baseboards the next day (so now we were up to 5 days for a 2 day job). Unfortunately, when I came home on Tuesday, the baseboards were re-attached, but no nail holes were filled in & the joints where they were matched up with existing baseboards (like at where the entry stepped down into the living room) were completely off & looked awful. I had heard nothing from them that day, so didn't know if they considered the job finished or what. After texting with the owner, he said they'd be back the next day (up to 6 days at this point). The next day, the nails had been filled & the baseboards painted, but they had replaced two small sections & left very obvious seams because they new piece did not match the existing baseboards (which were only 2 years old). Again, I heard nothing from the project manager or owner & thought they considered the job done. I again texted the owner a picture and said it was not acceptable & they would need to replace the entire piece. He agreed & said that was their plan, but no one had communicated with me. At that point, I insisted on a day to let me cats out of the room they had been shut into for 6 days & told them to come back the next day. On the 7th day, I came home early to meet them & inspect what they had done. The project manager did not meet me at my house, only the two guys who did the work. The two lengths that were replaced looked fine. Because I am 8 months pregnant, I did not get down & crawl around on the floors to look at all of the work, but over the weekend, noticed that they had painted all kinds of dust into the baseboards (which were brand new 2 years prior) and there were sections where the paint was bubbled as well. I waited to hear from the Project Manager or the Owner, since they knew I had been frustrated by many things on this job, but they never called. Several days later, I received an emailed invoice, so I reached out to Jonathon, the owner & explained my dissatisfaction & that I wanted him to remove the price of the baseboards. I was done having them in my house & would just have someone else replace the baseboards later. I did agree to let the Project Manager come out and look at the problem. When he did, he tried to talk me into letting them sand and repaint the baseboards (even though the original estimate said they would install new baseboards). He told me this would take one day (which in my mind, I'm multiplying by 3 given how long everything took). I was not interested in any further work by this company. Jonathon was cooperative in adjusting my invoice by the price of the baseboard work & was very apologetic. I am satisfied with this resolution. Unfortunately, I will have to have more work done on the baseboards and I invested a lot of time & energy with these guys. The bamboo flooring installation looks beautiful, but the baseboards were a complete disaster. I believe they have more work than they can handle right now & are not doing a good job juggling this or supervising the jobs. Had they communicated better with me, I would have been a lot less frustrated. I wouldn't use them again or recommend them...

There were a number of snafus, all caused by me and/or the store I mistakenly used to buy the flooring from. The store had their guy measure the floor and his measurement was about 100 sq ft. more than the one I got from Beto. I also had them install matching baseboards, which the original guy undermeasured. I had placed my order based on the original guy's measurements. I fortunately got a second bid from Beto, which was about 400 cheaper. The snafus occurred when his guys showed up, on time and there was no underlayment, which the store had failed to give them. They waited fo almost 2 hrs while I went to Home Depot and when they finished, my floors looked beautiful. Because there wasn't enough baseboard ordered, they had to come by after I called and got it shipped. Beto tried more than once before he got me and finished the job even though he had already been paid in full. I highly recommend these guys. They are very professional and know how to roll with the punches. My floors are beautiful.

I had 1,100 sq ft of carpet in 5 rooms that I wanted removed and replaced with Bamboo. The installers picked up the materials and delivered them to my home. They moved all the furniture in each room, removed the old carpet, and prepared the concrete floors (sanded and leveled). It took them 2 days to complete all the work and replace the furniture. I really appreciated the cleanup after the job was completed.

We originally replaced our engineered wood floor with the Teragren Synergy Strand bamboo flooring in 2007. Bob's team from Hardwood Flooring Services demo'd much of the existing floor (some of it I demoed myself) and then glued the new flooring down directly onto the slab. Unfortunately, the flooring soon began to exhibit signs of failure: serious cupping, bubbles in the flooring where it had separated from the foundation, etc. We later found out that despite Teragren's assurances, the product had failed not just on our slab but in many other houses in Austin. Despite our best efforts - and a few trips from Bob to address some problems as they came up - we eventually realized that the problems were not fixable. So in June 2010 we contacted Bob and Andrea at Hardwood Flooring Services about replacing the bamboo floor they installed with something that would definitely withstand being glued down onto the slab. They presented us with a ton of options from their showroom, and we eventually settled on the Mullican Ridgecrest Hickory Natural flooring. We cleared out the house for them (the hardwood floors were in every room of the house.) and stayed at a friends house during the removal and installation. Bob's team had the old floor pulled out and the new one installed in three or four days. And it looked gorgeous! Just to be safe, we waited for a bit to write this review, just to make sure the floor didn't have any issues. To date we have had none - not a single problem. The floor is still gorgeous, and we couldn't be happier with the final results. If we ever need more flooring work of any kind, we won't hesitate to call them.

Butler Floors did an excellent job with my project, at substantially lower cost than the other bid I got. Owners Cindy and Rob were very helpful and willing to answer lots of questions. The work crew came on time, worked efficiently, the new flooring looked great, and they left everything very clean and neat. This was a very positive experience and I would talk with Butler first about any future flooring projects.

Recent Review: Update/resolved: Mr Blaker has acknowledged his lack in completing our contract. He contacted us immediately after receiving notifications from BBB and Angie’s List. Mr Blaker apologized and went to work immediately and finished out our contract within a week. Wait, there’s more. My husband is a 100% disabled veteran and cannot walk. We have this awesome deck in our backyard and we have not used it in years, due to my husband’s lack of mobility. Mr Blaker had a crew out the next day to build a ramp, for free, and it was such a nice night last evening, we sat out on the deck and played ball with our dogs. After having the new baseboards installed, he repaired some holes in our sheet rock AND painted our entire living room, dining room and hallway, from top to bottom, for free. So, thank you Mr Blaker.

Recent Review: We had obtained several bids, and decided on Delgado Wood Floors because of their responsiveness, knowledge and competitive pricing. Delgado Wood Floors exceeded our expectations by transforming our 19th century oak/walnut inlay floors to their near original beauty. The sanding, filling and sealing of our varied species of wood floors was completed in a very professional manner. The workmanship was excellent. The Delgado team was equally skilled when installing our LVT at laundry room and engineered wood at kitchen. We were especially pleased by the concientious nature of the team who returned multiple times to complete our kitchen floor after 2 or 3 occasions finding the humidity too high to complete the work. Delgado Wood Floors will be my go to from now on, and I will recommend them to my design clients with confidence.

Recent Review: From the very first point of contact Cabinet Refresh (specifically, Nathan Wright) have been responsive and knowledgeable. They came out to the house for a quote less than a week after the first email and worked with us on how to time the painting along with all the other work we are having done on the house. As a good consumer, I gathered multiple quotes and Cabinet Refresh was not only the most reasonable but I also felt like they had the most experience. When we had a hard time finding someone to do another part of our renovation, they provided some referrals. The workmen were professional, on-time and left our garage (the staging area for painting) cleaner than how they found it. We weren't completely sure about the stain color for the railings and Edgar tried out a couple of colors to find the right shade. Both the kitchen and railings look fantastic. I would recommend Cabinet Refresh with enthusiasm!

Recent Review: We have worked with Kris in the past and were eager to work with her again on our new big project. We trust Kris, like her viewpoint on design, and follow her guidance/advice. For this project, we were downsizing from a large newer home to an older much smaller home. Kris provided consulting services before we closed on our house straight through to the completion of our remodeling project. We needed to gut the kitchen and dining room to create a new eat-in kitchen. We needed to eliminate furniture that wouldn't fit in the new house. We were replacing the flooring in the entire first level of the house. We replaced all the windows. We needed to remove popcorn ceilings and repaint 100% of the interior of the home, including removal of wood paneling. We relied on Kris' design expertise throughout all of this work. She consulted and made recommendations, which we executed on, regarding design improvements, color selection and product selection. Kitchen: Kris was instrumental in the creation of a new layout for our kitchen and the selections for the entire kitchen - wall color, backsplash, flooring, countertops, cabinet color, window treatments, light fixtures. Light fixtures were sourced through Kris. Living Areas: Furniture placement, color palette, feedback on area rug selections, wall décor placement. Windows: We worked with Kris to select all our window treatments, which she sourced for us. Came up with the perfect solution for our window needs - roman shades. And so pleased that we finally did the black-out lining for our bedrooms! Flooring: We decided to go with a hard wood floor throughout the first level of the house, Kris helped us select the wood, sourced the product and recommended an excellent craftsman who could do the installation of the flooring. Kris can take most of the credit for the beautiful result of the remodeling project. ;) We couldn't have done it without her! Side note: My husband and I have a very dynamic relationship especially when it comes to big decisions and can be a challenge to work with. Extra points go to Kris for being able to successfully navigate the highs and lows of working with a couple like us!

Recent Review: The floor was installed in a 43 year old house. The foundation was more uneven than expected an the old walls and flood repairs presented challenges. The installer did a beautiful job of floating the floors so there is no flex or noise. The representative helped find wide baseboards that matched the door frames and other trim but also helped cover up wall gaps and damage. No one knows the floor isn't wood. The maintenance is easier than wood or laminate flooring. We love it.
