Paul's Lawn & Landscape LLC

They hauled in 3 truckloads of dirt, moved it into my back yard, spread the dirt to improve the grade, packed it down, sowed grass seed and covered the repaired area with netting. Then they smoothed down the area of the yard that was disturbed by the bobcat's moving the dirt and sowed seed there, too. The grass came up promptly and the dirt didn't wash away in the Halloween rains. I was very satisfied. Everybody was helpfull and professional

Met with the representative and I wanted them to install edging and repair some sprinkler heads. I was told that would not take long and i asked what else he suggested. He said they could till, seed and fertilize the yard. I heard nothing for weeks. Then one day I received a phone call saying they were on their way over. When I came home at lunch, all that was done was the yard was tilled. I assumed they were coming back to finish after lunch. That was weeks ago. Now I have a dirt backyard and nothing I asked for was done. Also, when we talked about seeding the yard, we were getting a lot of rain. With the weather the way it is now, there is no way I would be able to get seed to grow

Ron and his friendly crew did a great job on my yard, including pruning back Asiatic jasmine and tearing out a portion of English ivy, then replacing replacing it with a stone path. They also pulled gone-to-seed bluebonnets and lots of weeds, then added mulch. Nicely "transformed"!

I contacted him by email and he promptly got back to me. He took a look at the place and submitted a bid. The permit process was very complicated because we had a long distance between us and there had been prior problems with this property. He just went out of his way to help in every part of this project. I had a budget and he worked within that. The only complication was that we found asbestos that had to be removed. He did tell me that it was a possibility and it raised the price, but he stayed right within the parameters of the estimate he had told me. He was very professional and communicated well. He sent emails and kept photos of the progress and sent me copies. He sent me the final paperwork. He was a terrific guy to work with

THey basically ruined my lawn. The work included mowing, laying seed, moved rocks, and fixing the sprinkler system. Apparently the sprinkler did not fixed along with other things they did wrong. They left a trench in the yard that was 8'x1', and put in a plastic edging backwards. The price was supposedly cheap, until they found a reason why they needed to charge me more money to get the problem resolved. I will no longer do business with this company in the future

Allandale Lawn & Landscape
5.0
Chris Griffith, owner and designer for Allandale Land Design, the creative wing of Allandale Lawn and Landscape, met with us on several occasions to discuss our concept of turning yards that were primarily St. Augustine grass lawns into much lower water usage landscapes. We wanted to create a dense Texas woods look in the back yard, with mature trees and shrubs that, once fully established in the ground, would need little or no watering during much of the year. For the front yard, we were inspired by the natural wildflower gardens at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, and wanted a combination of wildflowers, drought tolerant native ornamental grasses, native sedges, and a bit of Thunder Turf grass seed mix to hold the soil together in areas where there might be erosion in heavy rains. Chris was always prompt for meetings, notepad in hand, and was very helpful in conceptualizing the new yards, roughing out sketches, choosing appropriate trees and other plants, and providing a photo layout showing us suggested plant material, so we could see how they might work together before they went into the ground. Chris line-itemed each plant and service, so there were no 'extras' or hidden surprises. The installation schedule was set. Chris' seasoned crew was on schedule, on time and very good at their jobs. They removed some bad dirt, unwanted grass and weeds in the front yard first , did beautiful work leveling and grading the space in preparation for planting and seeding. Chris came by numerous times each day throughout the installation week to supervise and double check his team's work. His lead installer, Jeremy, always checked in with us if they had any questions or if a decision needed to be made. They allowed us to help position and rotate trees in their pre-dug holes, so we could get the orientation just right before final dirt went in. Each day, the crew cleaned up empty plant containers and other debris. We were extremely impressed with their professionalism and integrity. By the time the final layer of mulch went down over the seed mix in the front, and around each of the trees or shrubs in the back, Allandale had transformed our yards and had more than met our expectations. The plants they brought in were mature, high quality and very healthy. We felt as if we got our money's worth every step of the way. Highly recommend

ZEN DESIGN OUTDOORS
5.0
Had a design already drawn that was a xeriscape plan, that included demo of the yard, 1 gate, cement pavers and instalation of the design with 1 gate, seeded yard, plants and cement pavers. Met Jayson Anton of Zen Design Austin as he was building a neighbors fence. He was knowledgeable and did beautiful work. My original bid for the design was $15,000 from the original designer. After consulting with Jayson he advised me on some small changes that could bring down the price so I hired him. The Demolition of the existing yard went much better than I expected, everything got taken out except for 2 pecan trees. He then came back in with bed prep and landscape design the job went extremely well the natural stone pavers set in decomposed granite instead of mortar takes real skill to get it level and in the case of the pavers going into the gate was on a slow grade and took extra effort to get it right and it turned out beautiful. The extra time it took to get it right was at no extra charge. His original bid was much lower and he did come in at the bid, but as landscaping goes once you see how beautiful you yard can look you start to add other touches including more boulders ( I'm addicted to boulders) originally spec'd for 1 ton I decided I needed 2 tons. I also wanted more plants, then I also added a new fence and gate and much more mulch. Original design bid was to seed with buffalo grass but decided to go with full sod of "Emerald Zoysia" A Xerscape sod that is drought tolerant and beautiful. All plants are doing fine except for one which he brought to my attention and he said he will replace it. The bottom line is Zen Design Austin is a small reputable company with an owner that you can trust. At first I was a little worried because of his lack of working capital means you have to pay the material cost up front and it is a leap of faith; However Jayson always did what he said he would do, cautioned against doing things that cost more and would not add to the design. A very trust worthy man, plus his crew also seemed very knowledgeable about plants, (Rock n Rollers by night and plant enthusiast by day). I will be using them again to design and install a backyard

SECOND NATURE LANDSCAPES & LIGHTING
5.0
We found Second Nature Landscapes on Angie's List and gave them a call. Cory, the president of the firm called us back promptly and gave us a date to come out, review the job, make suggestions and schedule the work. Of course we changed our minds a few times before the work was done... different stone, different design ideas, more wall area.... typical indecisive homeowners! Cory was very accommodating and handled all our changes with frequent communication and the utmost professionalism. The weather didn't cooperate on the day we had originally scheduled to start but Cory had already call us the day before to let us know it wasn't looking good. We rescheduled for the next nice day and sure enough, his crew showed up and went straight to work. They even hauled away all our previous DIY attempts at a stone wall. No fuss, no mess, awesome crew, great clean up work and VERY professional. I would highly recommend Cory and his team for whatever landscape needs, ideas, dreams you might have

Ted's Tree LTD

I hesitate in writing this review, however, I think it's important for others who may have small jobs to know that this company is not interested in doing a small job. I'll leave it to Angie's List if they publish this. I contacted this company 3 times through Angie's List. I finally heard back from them, and the following is their response. "Sorry about getting back to you so late. Our hydro machacine is broken and we are not focusing on repairing it right now due to cost. We are currently booked for the next 2 months and the calls are pouring in. Doing a small job is not to our best interest, especially if it involves hydromulchig. We are behind because of the rains. Again, I apologize and hope you can understand our position. Thank you, Ted." I specifically searched for hydro seeding, so if they aren't really offering this service I feel they should remove it from their "services offered" section so as not to waste people's time

Resolution Gardens

I contacted Randy by email because of a reference from a friend-of-a-friend for whom he had done some raised beds. He responded right away and agreed to come out and help me look at my site and choose where to place the beds. At every step, he was asking questions about what I wanted, making suggestions, and offering advice. The price for the beds I wanted was on their Website, and the only extras would be for additional site prep (turns out his crew is able/willing to do other incidental landscape stuff like trimming trees, making paths etc). They showed up promptly at the agreed-upon time with two beautifully built boxes, and installed them after leveling the site. Filled them with high-quality soil, and we made plans for all the plants and seeds to add over the next couple of months for the fall growing season. He asked whether deer were a problem in our neighborhood (they are), and I showed him an sketch I had made for putting up a frame with some netting to keep them out. It turns out he's worked on several different designs for just this sort of thing, and after discussion I ended up asking for a welded frame to fit each box, with removable metal-mesh panels. When they came to install them, I couldn't believe how perfectly they fit the boxes, and how easy they are to deal with (see pictures). Randy and his crew are careful, hard-working, easy to communicate with, and willing to take on additional tasks. I will definitely call on Randy again to keep my garden happy

Sierra Outdoor Living

In short, some of the work was good and some very unsatisfactory. We asked for Texas appropriate landscaping for our back yard with particular attention to plants that were safe to have around dogs and not messy around the pool. When we developed an infestation of one of the feature plants only a few short weeks after the project, and within the warranty period we told the owner, James. He said it couldn't be, but would treat it. Well the treatment didn't work, and a year later I struggle with this large, expensive, trying-to-die plant. Every time I see it it is a thorn in my side. The plant has a type of scale that only infects sago palms, and there was never a sago palm in my yard or my neighbors yards, the plant had to have come infected, but James either failed to recognize it or didn't care. Upon further research after construction, I learned that not only was the sago poisonous to dogs, but so are the 6 large Lantana that are now growing in the back yard and of particular interest to those dogs. He either didn't know or didn't care. They will all need to be removed and replaced before they grow this spring. Additionally the Pride of Barbados, while pretty and adapted to our climate, it is very messy, dropping it's seed pods in our pool and on the deck all summer long. He either didn't know or didn't care. In the course of this fairly large project I found that when the crew was supervised they did well. When they weren't they performed poorly. I go in and out of 2 of the ugliest back gates anyone has ever seen. The framing is ramshackle and rough cut without a single joint coming in contact with another, with no symmetry at all It is as if the inexperienced, unsupervised worker didn't even use a measuring tape. This is how it looks after it was and quot;fixedand quot;. At first not only were they ugly, they didn't close. I have had to adjust them several times to keep them latching right. My previous 12 year old gates were straight and closed every time. They used excellent fence material...their foreman was attentive...the crew did do some extras like stepping stones and installing landscape lighting I provided, and they were prompt. However James was argumentative when there was a fence placement issue, and was clearly irritated that repairs and redo work caused him to have staff here more than planned. Unfortunately, some of the poorly researched, inspected and selected plant material, and the lousy gate construction blurs what otherwise could have been a great project
I am beyond ecstatic of the work done by the crew! I had plans to install an inflatable hot tub so I needed a portion of my backyard dug up as the previous owner left behind massive rocks and what I came to find out, was a waterfall basin that had been buried deep in the ground. Once I realized that I was not capable of such a task, I called Gomez Landscaping and Roberto was happy to come out and look at my yard the same day. When the day came for the work to start, his crew wasted no time in getting started AND did a marvelous job once they finished. It was beyond my expectations and I can't thank Roberto and his crew enough for the work they've done

That place is phenomenal. They are extremely helpful. They sell plants, shrubs, trees, lime, cactus and mulch. It is a big garden place. They provide a lot of information about the top grade plants they sell like how tall it will grow, how much of sunshine it needs, how much of shade it needs etc. They have their own gardens where we can see what the plant is like instead of having to imagine things after reading the labels. It is a fantastic place to go to. They have animals and burrows out there. They have a kind of serenity garden. Even if one is not going to buy anything, it is a wonderful place to go. They have a big field with swing and some chairs. It is good to take a walk in this place. It is very peaceful and very nice. It is an extraordinary place. I believe Mr.John Dromgoole is the owner of this place. He is very knowledgeable and so is the staff that works there. He has a programme every Saturday and Sunday morning. We can call him and ask him all kinds of questions. It is an Austin company and as far as I know there are no other natural gardens anywhere in Austin. I am planting vegetable plants and I got what I wanted there. I have used them many times and will continue to use them. That is the place to go if one is interested in gardening
Organicare is great, and I am very satisfied with them. The people know their job and they are always pleasant and friendly. I have gotten many compliments on my lawn since using them. My lawn looks fabulous.
It was great. Very professional. I was contacted first by a manager that waled the proposed work with me. Date was set for work, 2 man crew showed up on time and did a great job. I would definitely use them again!
On very short notice in the peak of the summertime, Zachary and his team made time in their schedule to accommodate my moving plans. Additionally, the project was a monster as the lawn had been completely neglected for several years. They were pleasant, professional, knowledgeable and skilled. Took on the monster of a job on short notice, worked us into holes in their schedule and had the whole thing done early before we had to have it done for our move. Fantastic job and would definitely recommend to anyone searching for care
