DAVID WAS ON TIME AND COURTEOUS. HE PUT A RUSH ON GETTING THE PART AND DID WORK ASAP. SAVED US FROM BUYING A NEW FURNACE. WARRANTEED PART AND PUT A RUSH ON GETTING THE PART. ALSO ADVISED US THAT WE WOULD GET A REIMBURSEMENT FOR SOME OF THE LABOR THAT WILL BE PAID FOR BY SUPPLIER.

I like that they did the job fast, in good order, and that the price was right. I highly recommend their services. I thought that their rates were really cheap as well because they could have charged me a lot more than they did by telling me that I needed to replace the whole heat unit.

Of course, the heat went out at 4pm on a Friday before a long weekend (doesn't it always?). I heard a loud bang come from downstairs. I had heard it before, but the heat usually came on right after, so I assumed it was the heat just bowing ducts in our crawl space. Well, this time, the heat didn't come back on, and I smelled gas in the house. The smell cleared once I opened a window, so I had an idea it wasn't a constant leak, but I erred on the side of caution and decided to call an HVAC company. I tcalled a couple other high-rated options here first (literally just went down the list), but neither could come out until tomorrow, at the earliest. Considering tonight is dropping into the 20's, I kept looking to get an appointment this evening in the hopes of having heat tonight. Enter Moncrief. The woman I spoke with was great, and listened to my entire story, and had me double check for the gas smell to be safe, which was nice. She said she could have a supervisor over to my house in about an hour. Then she ran down the cost with me ahead of his arrival, which was a nice touch as well. The cost was more than the other two companies I called, but I assumed that was due to the last-minute nature of the appointment, so I was fine with that. The breakdown was $59 for the tech call then $41 for each 15 minute block of work. The tech arrived within the hour. He took one look and knew exactly what the issue was. He did his work in a timely manner, then made sure everything was working properly before heading out. And so far, things are working smoothly. The 'bang' I was hearing was actually a few of the burners not igniting due to blocked exchanges, leaking out gas, and then that gas catching fire in the furnace via the pilot. The reason it didn't catch this time was the mini-explosion pulled in a draft that blew out the pilot and burners. Quite happy with the experience, though, price wise, for what the tech did, it's a bit expensive. I get the $59 up-front charge for the 'emergency' call, but $82 for a quick diagnostic and some minor dismantling/vacuuming is a bit steep in my opinion, though from the other prices I received, seems to be par for the course. They were professional, friendly, and very helpful though for this jam, so I'll definitely consider them at the top of my list for future work, so long as the price doesn't keep trending on the high side for future requests.

Mr. Merrick arrived on time, explained what he was going to do and then proceeded to perform the service on the furnace. When completed, Mr. Merrick, (again in his stocking feet with shoes left at the front door landing) explained that there were no problems and commented that the furnace filter I was using was effective but could be replaced by another that is equally effective but significantly less expensive. We do appreciate the courtesy, professionalism and offer to save us money. Given our trust in Mr. Merrick, we signed up for an annual maintenance agreement that will include AC maintenance as well. We recommend Spencer Furnace and Air Conditioning as a first-rate service.

They didn't notice the heat exchanger had been broken three times. When we tried to tell them it was broken they said they couldn't see it because it had been cleaned. Too many excuses. I was not happy with them. They don't really know what they are doing. The tech that came out didn't speak english. When he came out the third time and I demanded the heat exchanger be fixed, he had to call his boss, who didn't answer, nor return my calls. When they finally called me back they told us the piece wouldnt be in for three weeks. We fired them at that point.

Furnace installed within two days of initial contact. Installers were on time arrival and stayed for approx. 7- 8 hours. Quiet, polite - professional installation. So far so good. Furnace is running so quiet - we don't even notice it is on. Furnace has 20 year warranty on heat exchanger, 10 years on parts.

Very punctual. Found the problem quickly (tripped flame roll switch). Changed filter and checked all major safeties and controls and heat exchange for cracks. I bought the Annual Service Plan. If the flame roll out trips again I won't have to pay for the service and they will also service and inspect my A/C in spring. He also set the dampers correctly so all the heat wouldn't blow to the upstairs!

Quoted one day, arrived 9 am the next to install. Arrived on time. Introduced helper. Clean and well kept employees, took shoes off when entering home. Explained when they would be making more noise. Explained the status of my condensation lines. Showed me the heat exchanger, showed me the wear on the insulation around the lines. Completed project before 1 pm.

twenty-five year old furnace had cracks in the heat exchanger and was possibly unsafe to use, The weather had been so mild for the past five or six weeks, we had not needed heat. Weather forecast predicted a dramatic change in temperature on 10/27 as hurricane Sandy began to affect the weather. We called Reliable on 10/25 and they came out on 10/26 AM and installed our new furnace and we had heat by noon.Reliable arrived when they said they would. They did exactly what they had committed to do within the time estimate. After installation, they cleaned-up the work area and left it as they found it. The two technicians that did the work were polite, professional and thorough. I will recommend to friends & family.

Overall: Very Poorly. Three visits to fix one simple problem, and also to do Spring checkups, due to NEW leaks being created twice during their work. There is very low chance of this just happening randomly, with one 4 yr old system and one 12 year old system. The "savings" from "free freon" is EASILY overwhelmed by multiple visits, repairs, and them pushing new SYSTEMS at $8,000. And then PRESSURING that a new system is REQUIRED asap, and using "bad science" to claim that any tiny Carrier Heat Exchanger crack will definitely put CO in our home, when this is patently untrue. This Carrier heat exchanger was designed to "fail safe". Any crack and leakage will cause CO to go OUTSIDE with the combustion exhaust . It seems they are using misinformation to scare and sell new units ($8,000).

Recent Review: Had a problem with my furnace last winter. Called in a different company, and they fixed the problem, and while there, offered to check my heat exchanger. They found it to be cracked and said the furnace needed to be replaced, and estimated $2,500-$3,000. Since the heating season was almost over, I held off on replacing the furnace, and installed a carbon monoxide detector as a precaution. In the fall, I wanted to make sure the furnace was in good working order for the upcoming winter. I wanted to get a second opinion, since the first one was basically unsolicited. I searched for a company that was local to my home(North Aurora) and came across Air-rite. The service technician came out, not only did the camera inspection (like the previous company) but also disassembled the furnace to get a better look. The heat exchanger was cracked, but not severely. The technician then read thru my owners manual and found that the furnace was still under warranty for parts (not labor) and said the furnace could be repaired for about 1/4 of the cost of replacing it. He ordered the part, and when it came in came back and installed it. Very quick, very professional, explained everything he was doing clearly and concisely. My only complaint was the appointment to replair the furnace had to be rescheduled at the last minute due to the technician becoming ill, and I had already scheduled time off of work. Very pleased with the service, and signed up for annual maintenance plan based on how well the experience went.
