  Thank you to the hard working professionals at Scott Lane's Tree Service for their excellent work on my project. I initially requested estimates from different tree services through "Angi", and received some estimates. Scott Lane's Tree Service was one of the companies that gave me an estimate. We initially discussed the type of work that I wanted done over the phone. A crew member came out, went over all of the details, and gave me a written estimate that day. On the day of the project, a full crew came out and got the work done within a few hours, which included clean-up of all debris. They did a very thorough job on four tall pine trees which were overgrown, growing over the roof, and reaching power lines towards the street behind the house. Two live oaks, which had grown together, were separated, thinned-out, and shaped. A mimosa tree and a mulberry tree were cut back from the house, and from over the driveway.   The crew was courteous, quick and efficient. I asked for additional work to be completed that was not on the original estimate and the team was willing to take care of the work for me. All of the tree service, debris removal and cleanup took about 4 hours. I gave a B for punctuality only because the crew did not arrive at the agreed upon start time (7:30am) and I didn't receive any notification that the crew was delayed or stuck in traffic. I would have given an A if someone had called or texted me that the team was running late; a validation that they knew they were expected to be at my house at 7:30show more

  A Top Notch Tree Service came recommended by neighbors that have used him in the past. He came out and gave me a free estimate a month or two ago when I was price shopping. His prices were competitive, and due to the previous recommendations that he had, I decided to go with him (he also honored his initial quote, even though I waited longer than the expiration date provided on the quote). He did the work while I was not at home, and he cleaned up the debris to the point that you couldn't tell he had been there. If I hadn't had problems in the past with other contractors and their failure to clean up properly, I don't think I would have appreciate this fully. I know from the pruning that they had to have a ton of branches to dispose of, and they took care of it all. There weren't even any leaves left on the ground in the area they were working and no other landscaping was damaged (which is impressive given the area of my yard that they were working). The pruning also looks great. I have a problem maple tree in the front of my yard that I am trying desperately to save. They really cleaned it up and took out all the dead branches and topped it off to make it look more like a tree and less like the 60+ foot giant weed that it has become. Hopefully, their work will be enough to save this very old tree (it could be original to our 43 year old home). I would gladly recommend A Top Notch Tree Service to anyone that needs this type of service. After Note: We also used them to buy firewood in the fall. I order a cord of wood and got about 2/3rds of a cord (basically two face cords), and this was with them throwing in extra because of delivery issues. After buying firewood from three different individuals in Hampton Roads, I've come to the sad realization that none of them know how to properly measure a cord of wood. Beware of this if you buy firewood from A Top Notch Tree Service. My firewood experience doesn't change my above review about their tree cutting serviceshow more

  Lloyd arrived at the time we'd agreed on with a truckload of firewood. It was nicely seasoned, just he said it would be, and Lloyd's wife dumped it exactly where I'd asked them to. I was very pleased (who wouldn't be?) and would use them again in a heartbeat.

  I was late in finding a supplier for firewood and they agreed to deliver mid-week for me so I could receive the delivery earlier than their normal schedule allowed. He called to let me know exactly when they would arrive. I met them at the house and they were on-time (actually a bit early). It was drizzling/raining that day and that was no problem for our delivery. I also asked that he look at a couple of trees that need removed and a few that might need trimming. All went very well! I will use them again for firewood and plan to have them back when able to remove the dead trees and trim the othersshow more

  Mr. and Mrs. Jordan brought the firewood to my residence on the day as scheduled. The wood was great, cut to length as requested and all hardwood. My wife and I stacked and racked the firewood for winter. Just out of curiosity, I measured the racks of wood just to see what a cord of wood looked like ( 128 cubic feet or 4 x 4 x 8 ft). I measured a couple of times and came up short each time by about 20 cubic feet of a full cord. I emailed the company with my findings. They were very apologetic and said they were trying a new way to load a fixed cord of wood with their Bob Cat. They seemed to really appreciate my notification so they could calibrate the loading procedure and on 5 September the Jordan's brought addition great oak firewood to my house. We are now more than pleased with their attention to this relatively small amount of wood but nevertheless meaningful to me. Again the Jordan's were most gracious with the delivery and we'll be calling them again next yearshow more

  On time arrival, protected the lawn with heavy mats for the cherry-picker truck to drive on, explained all the work they would be doing and worked with me to determine the extent of the trimming that would be done on the oak and red tip. Performed very precise drops as Lloyd and quot;dismantledand quot; the large black gum tree that was leaning over our house, as well as with the magnolia removal and the oak crown reduction. Was amazing to watch -- and the crew had top-notch teamwork as they worked with Lloyd's chainsaw action in the cherry-picker truck as well as his climbing the other two trees. Clean-up was thorough and the stump grinding was complete -- I chose to keep the grindings for mulch. All of the crew were courteous and friendly. Top rating to The Tree Surgeonshow more
