Senior Writer

Paul F. P. Pogue, a veteran Indianapolis writer/photographer, has been a reporter at Angi since 2006. A Ball State journalism graduate, he focuses on the often unseen but always important details of home maintenance, such as lead paint safety, verifying licensing, plumbing, electrical and HVAC work. In between, he likes to take a look at some of the more uncommon ways people hire service providers, such as treehouse builders or mural painters. At home he and his wife instruct their two children in the finer points of nerd culture, such as identifying the good "Star Wars" films on sight.

Fun Facts

The first provider I hired was…
a mobile car repair service.
If I were a service provider, I'd be a…
wedding and portrait photographer.
Something I learned while researching a story…
You need to be very careful verifying who actually holds the license when you hire an electrician in some states.
The worst service provider experience I've ever had was…
Trying to make a warranty claim on a PDA that the company insisted was only a two-year warranty, despite the fact I was standing right there with the paperwork clearly indicating it was for three years. No luck. I never shopped at that place again. Later they went out of business.
The best service provider I've found was…
the mobile car repair service mentioned above. I’ve been with them seven years and they’re as reliable as they come.
