For one Santa Monica couple, a plumbing leak turned into a nightmarish situation when a burst pipe in an upstairs bathroom caused water damage to wood floors, ceilings, walls and the kitchen cabinets.

The homeowners hired Supreme Remodeling to make their house livable again, and in the process created their dream home.

“The first time I met with the homeowners, they’d just finished dealing with the hardship of major water damage,” says Supreme Remodeling owner Micky Kanian.

A different company completed water remediation by demolishing and removing drywall, interior and flooring, he says, but water damage remained on the wood flooring, kitchen cabinetry, and areas of the walls and ceilings.

Since the home required so much work, Kanian says the homeowners decided to create a dream home in the wake of their disaster.

“The whole design and goal was to bring the house to a completely different level — specifically, a more high-end, luxurious look,” Kanian says.

In part to achieve that clean look, Kanian installed cabinet doors and drawers with no handles or hardware. Instead, the doors open using a touch system, where the user touches a button on the door and it opens or closes.

Kanian named the kitchen as his favorite part of the project.

“The homeowners presented us with a photo of their dream kitchen with a wish list, and we promised we’d fulfill their dreams according to the picture and request,” he says. “The new design and layout of the kitchen [which opened up the space] made the whole house transform.”
