Dresser drawers can hold more than t-shirts and tube socks. Instead of tossing an old, worn-out dresser or passing on a shabby thrift-store find, transform it! If you remove the top of the dresser and all of the drawers, you're left with a perfectly sized seat. Add plywood and some cushions, and you're ready to sit!

If you replace the top of your dresser with marble, granite or a butcher block, then you have a kitchen island with an incredible amount of storage! This project works best if your dresser stands at the same level as your countertops.

This transformation is simple and great for mid-sized dressers. Place a cushy pad on top of the dresser, and it's now a baby-changing table! Use the drawers below for nursery storage.

Empty drawers make beautiful planter boxes. Simply cut a hole in the top of your dresser to add a plant to the top drawer. For more planting space, open the other drawers so that they're staggered.

Note: It's a good idea to line your drawers with garbage bags and drill a few drainage holes through the wood and the plastic. This will help keep your plants alive!

If you're redoing a bathroom, consider placing your sink in an old dresser. You'll add storage space and character to your bathroom.
