After Gayle Saber bought a big-screen television, she spent three years looking for an entertainment center or table to accompany it.
Project details
THE PROJECT: TV table
MEMBER: Gayle Saber
SERVICE PROVIDER: Finismith
TIME: About 3.5 months
COST: $2,700
“I wanted oak furniture, and that is difficult to find as most furniture is black or dark brown” says Angie's List member Gayle Saber. “Also, the entertainment centers that I looked at were not well made.”
She scoured major furniture stores looking for something to support the TV and with storage for her LP records and CDs.
A carpenter to the rescue
After seeing a Big Deal, Saber hired David Smith to custom-build a honey oak TV table to match a display cabinet she’d purchased. Smith assured Saber the wood he used didn’t have chemicals that are often used in wood furniture from China.
“The table is strong and sturdy and well-built,” she says, adding she particularly loves the storage compartment. “It was well worth the wait to decide to have something built that is high quality and is exactly what I wanted.”

Follow-up work
Saber was so impressed that she hired Smith for another project. “Finismith also refinished my 30-year-old oak kitchen table,” she says. “It’s beautiful and will not fade in the sun.”
